Overview:
Sterile MacConkey Agar (USP) contact plate designed for the detection and differentiation of Gram-negative bacteria on environmental surfaces in cleanroom and compounding pharmacy environments.
Packaged 10 plates per sleeve.

Key Features:

  • Medium: MacConkey Agar (USP) – selective and differential for Gram-negative organisms.

  • Sterility: Non-irradiated; standard sterile packaging for non-aseptic or support cleanroom areas.

  • Intended Use: Detection and enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae and other Gram-negative bacteria on environmental surfaces.

  • Differential Indicator: Lactose fermentation produces pink/red colonies; non-fermenters remain colorless.

  • Plate Type & Size: 15 × 65 mm Lok-Tight™ contact plate with raised agar surface for direct sampling.

  • Storage: 2–8 °C; do not freeze.

  • Shelf Life: 6 months from manufacture (check label).

  • Packaging: 10 plates per sleeve (case of 100 available).

Regulatory:

  • USP <797> compliant

  • Recommended for 503A pharmacies and cleanroom support zones (ISO 7–8) as part of Gram-negative microbial trending.

Compare to:
P34 – TSA with Lecithin & Tween (general-purpose bacterial recovery).
P47 complements TSA by targeting Gram-negative species specifically.

💡 Recommended Use in Compounding Pharmacies

  • Use P47 (MacConkey) to identify and trend Gram-negative contamination alongside general bacterial (TSA) and fungal (SabDex) plates.

  • Ideal for facilities following enhanced microbial trending protocols under USP <797>.

Design Features:

  • Rodac™-Style Contact Plate with Lok-Tight™ locking lid.

  • Friction Lid prevents accidental opening before sampling.

  • Molded Grid aids in colony enumeration.

  • Certificate of Analysis available online for each lot.

Sampling Procedure (3 Easy Steps):

  1. Remove lid.

  2. Gently press plate to surface without twisting or sliding.

  3. Twist clockwise until frosted bands align to lock lid in place.
